Musing Mondays (May 5)

musingmondays51Musing Mondays asks you to muse about one of the following each week…

• Describe one of your reading habits.
• Tell us what book(s) you recently bought for yourself or someone else, and why you chose that/those book(s).
• What book are you currently desperate to get your hands on? Tell us about it!
• Tell us what you’re reading right now — what you think of it, so far; why you chose it; what you are (or, aren’t) enjoying it.
• Do you have a bookish rant? Something about books or reading (or the industry) that gets your ire up? Share it with us!
• Instead of the above questions, maybe you just want to ramble on about something else pertaining to books — let’s hear it, then!

This is a weekly meme hosted by Should Be Reading.

I think this Monday I will discuss one my reading/book habits!

I have this obsessive need to keep my books in the best condition. It is so bad that I refuse to carry around books loose in my purse or backpack without something covering it to protect it. I always wrap my book up in a plastic bag or place it in an iPad case to keep it from getting ruined! I seriously need to invest in a book case (Does anyone even make these?? They really should!)

What are your Monday Musings?

  1. This is one of the reasons that I love reading blogs–I just read a Monday Musing that expressed the exact opposite point of view about handling books!
I will often write notes in my books and will sometimes fold over pages, but I do try to read my paperbacks without cracking the spine too much–I think they look nicer on the shelf that way!

    1. The only books I can bring myself to handle more “roughly” and mark up with highlighter is textbooks .. But even that kind of bothers me! Lol it’s fun to see the different book habits readers/bloggers have!

  2. Hi ! I can relate to wanting to keep them in good condition (I hate dog-ears) but I love carrying them in my backpack ! In fact I forget a lot of other stuff I’m supposed to take but the book will be there 🙂

  3. Oh I thought I was picky about my books but I do put them in my handbag if I want them on hand…. and unwrapped. Great post as we are all different. For me I will buy used books and the condition of these isn’t overly important so my bookshelves are a mixture of books that don’t look read and battered ones with creased spines.

    1. I do carry my book in my bag, just wrapped up so they don’t get scuffed! I’m the same as you with used books! The condition of those don’t matter to me! 😃

  4. I understand wanting to keep books in great condition. I don’t like it when I lend out a book and it’s returned to me in bad condition. I’m like, seriously?! So frustrating. ~Jax

  5. I’m the exact same way!! I really have to give a rundown on what a person can do with my books when I lone them out. I’ve actually made someone but me a new book cause they dogeared the pages. ~ Dani

  6. Thats an interesting habit. Totally different than me. A great muse though. and yes I do think people make book covers. I used too.
