Binge watch any cool TV shows? Take any trips lately? I want to hear all about it!! You can either mention ALL of the ways you spent your free time that week or focus on one activity. Whatever your heart desires!

My Free time:

Weekend Plans

Happy Friday! I am at work for the day.. counting down the hours until tomorrow morning when I will be heading to the lovely Montreal to celebrate the husbands birthday! CANNOT WAIT! We will be dining at our favourite restaurant (L’usine de spaghetti) and shopping in Old Montreal. Always loads of fun ❤

Life

Life is busy with work. I am still trying to adjust to the evening shifts. I don’t think my body will ever get used to it. I am loving this contract though and will be sad when it ends.

Reading

I am slowly getting back in to my reading groove. It’s been SO long. On top of that – I am reviewing again! This makes me so happy. I have had zero interest in reviewing books over the past couple of years so this is a big deal. I think Goodreads has helped. I had to switch over from Shelfari (damn you for closing) and people are way more active on GR. I love browsing reviews on there.. and it has inspired a couple of my own!

sloane

I scored an eARC of Summer of Sloane by Erin L. Schneider. I enjoyed it! Check out my review.

I am currently reading another eARC – Don’t you cry by Mary Kubica. Hoping to get that finished and reviewed soon!

I also found time to review All Lined Up by Cora Carmack. Another fun read!

On top of the reading – there was some shopping! I picked up a few books at a local thrift store. Made out with some awesome titles.

AND I keep adding more and more to my TBR pile. Ugh.. this is an addiction. Seriously.

Television

Most of you probably did the same thing: binged watched Fuller House! Oh man, so many childhood memories. It was good. Not great.. but entertaining. Tried too hard to be funny that it ended up being kind of lame. However, seeing the old characters grown up was awesome. P.s. Are the Tanners cursed? Both Danny and DJ lost a spouse?? How crazy!

The end

Hope you had a great week full of books and funtimes. Happy Reading!

Booking Through Thursday – Multiples

Do you own multiple copies of any books? Why? Is it the format? Size? Just because you love it?

There are a few books that I own multiple copies of for various reasons: I forgot I already owned it, I loved more than one edition so I had to purchase both, combined both mine and my husbands books, and gifted books already in my collection. 1984 by George Orwell is one of the books I purposely purchased two copies of because I loved both covers! AND I was gifted a hardcover edition too! SO I have 3 copies. #crazyobsessed

My Free time:

Where have I been?? I have so much to catch up on!

Christmas: My Christmas was great! I received so many aaaaaamazing gifts! Books, jewelry, clothes, and lots lots more. My only complaint – the whole “no snow” thing. It didn’t feel super Christmasy without snow.

Here are a few of the new books! I still need to get pics of the others (Like HP Illustrated!! omg)

imag0504_1_1.jpgimag0527_1.jpgimag0518_1.jpg

New Years: My Husband and I got to start off the new year with bad colds. We are still suffering an annoying cough but feeling much better!! Being sick sucks. And poor pup was sick too after xmas. Nasty bug going around!

Work: I left my contract in information management for a full-time contract as a Library Technician! I started last week and already love it. I am here until the end of the semester. Woohoo!

I hope to get this blog back up and running now that I am free from germs and whatnot haha. Have a great weekend!

heartless

But according to her mother, such a goal is unthinkable for the young woman who could be the next Queen .
At a royal ball where Cath is expected to receive the king’s marriage proposal, she meets Jest, the handsome and mysterious court joker. For the first time, she feels the pull of true attraction. At the risk of offending the King and infuriating her parents, she and Jest enter into an intense, secret courtship.
Cath is determined to defineher own destiny and fall in love on her terms. But in a land thriving with magic, madness, and monsters, fate has other plans.

Release date: November 8, 2016

Why am I waiting on this book?

Marissa Meyer’s books are super addictive. I love love love the Cinder series! I dig the spin she put on the classic fairy tale – super imaginative. I cannot wait to see how she played this one.

What are you waiting on?!

Title: Reconstructing Amelia

Author: Kimberly McCreight

Goodreads blurb: A stunning debut novel in which a single mother reconstructs her teenaged daughter’s life, sifting through her emails, texts, and social media to piece together the shocking truth about the last days of her life.

Litigation lawyer and harried single mother Kate Baron is stunned when her daughter’s exclusive private school in Park Slope, Brooklyn, calls with disturbing news: her intelligent, high-achieving fifteen-year-old daughter, Amelia, has been caught cheating.

Kate can’t believe that Amelia, an ambitious, levelheaded girl who’s never been in trouble would do something like that. But by the time she arrives at Grace Hall, Kate’s faced with far more devastating news. Amelia is dead.

Seemingly unable to cope with what she’d done, a despondent Amelia has jumped from the school’s roof in an act of “spontaneous” suicide. At least that’s the story Grace Hall and the police tell Kate. And overwhelmed as she is by her own guilt and shattered by grief, it is the story that Kate believes until she gets the anonymous text:

She didn’t jump.

Sifting through Amelia’s emails, text messages, social media postings, and cell phone logs, Kate is determined to learn the heartbreaking truth about why Amelia was on Grace Hall’s roof that day-and why she died.

Told in alternating voices, Reconstructing Amelia is a story of secrets and lies, of love and betrayal, of trusted friends and vicious bullies. It’s about how well a parent ever really knows a child and how far one mother will go to vindicate the memory of a daughter whose life she could not save.

Thoughts: Well that has me intrigued! I’ve been on a mystery kick lately. Just finished a couple of Gillian Flynn books (sooo good!) and wanted more more more. This one received really awesome reviews and it was just sitting on my shelf waiting to be read.. I hope I enjoy it as much as others have! Have you read it?

THIS WEEK’S RANDOM QUESTION: Have you read – or do you plan to read – the Shannara Chronicles by Terri Brooks? Have you been watching the new TV series based off the books? If so, what do you think?

I haven’t heard of this book but I have seen a few previews for the TV series. Not sure if I am interested in it or not. I might have a look at goodreads reviews. I would prefer to read the books before watching the series in any case!

What are you musing about this Monday?

My Free time:

I need to lead a more interesting life so I can find more things to talk about here buuuuut who has time for that?? Work is kicking my butt and school is kicking it even harder. I have zero energy to read (sorry Carry On! I promise I will finish you sometime soon!) BUT – Want to know what I do have time for?? Watching and obsessing over a new favourite show!

thekilling

The Killing is AH-MAZING. Like seriously so so good! It is visually stunning – if a little dark and depressing. The story is unlike other cop shows I have seen. It follows the same murder for two seasons before moving on to another. It not only focuses on the murder but the cops and their personal lives as well as the family and the toll the tragedy takes on them. It is sad and frustrating but it keeps you HOOKED. Love it! I am nearly done season two. Anyone else watch this show??

What are some shows you are completely hooked on??

What book (or books) from your childhood do you think about most often? That had the most effect on your life?

20130911-231750.jpg

HARRY POTTER!! K, I wasn’t really a child when I read this series.. I started it after the 3rd book came out but it is the only book from “way back when” that still stands out in my mind. It is definitely the most magical world I ever escaped to.

Another stand out: Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nihm. I had to read this in elementary school and adored it (and the movie!)
