Booking Through Thursday – Multiples

Do you own multiple copies of any books? Why? Is it the format? Size? Just because you love it?

There are a few books that I own multiple copies of for various reasons: I forgot I already owned it, I loved more than one edition so I had to purchase both, combined both mine and my husbands books, and gifted books already in my collection. 1984 by George Orwell is one of the books I purposely purchased two copies of because I loved both covers! AND I was gifted a hardcover edition too! SO I have 3 copies. #crazyobsessed

What book (or books) from your childhood do you think about most often? That had the most effect on your life?

HARRY POTTER!! K, I wasn’t really a child when I read this series.. I started it after the 3rd book came out but it is the only book from “way back when” that still stands out in my mind. It is definitely the most magical world I ever escaped to.

Another stand out: Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nihm. I had to read this in elementary school and adored it (and the movie!)

Damage – Booking Through Thursday

Have you ever damaged a book? Dropped it in the bathtub? Spilled a bottle of ink? Used it to mop up spilled wine? Or just broken its back (poor thing).

I have damaged a couple of books..by accident!! I once brought a long a few library books to a camping trip wayyyy back in the day. One night we had an insane rain storm and the tent got flooded..rain was everywhere including all over the library books. It was a sad sight..and a costly one!! Aside from that and an unfortunate water bottle leak on a textbook I haven’t damaged any other books (as far as I can remember!)

Conversation – Booking Through Thursday

Do you have people you can talk to about books you’ve read? Share delight in plot twists, explore how much fun it was, or how badly written?

I have quite a few people I can talk to about books with!

My Husband – A non-reader who listens to me rant/rave/gush over my current reads! He surprisingly never tells me to shut it even when I don’t stop talking about books haha. True love right there folks!

My BFFs – They both like to read and discuss books! We share book recommendations all the time! Love it ❤ One BFF also shares her moms recommendations because her mom and I used to discuss books at length when we worked together!

My Mothers – Both my Mom and MIL love to read. We talk about our favourite authors/books. My mom loves to read young adult books so she is a great person to give YA recommendations to.

I also have some online friends who are huge readers and enjoy discussing anything and everything to do with books. I love to surround myself with “booknerds” and the book community!

Travel – Booking Through Thursday

Do you like to read books about far-away places? Travel guides, memoirs, whatever? Places you’ve been? Or places you’ve never been?

I do! I haven’t travelled much and don’t have the money to do so. I live vicariously through the lives of characters who live in faraway places.. especially places I have always wanted to visit. I mostly read fiction so that is where I get my “ticket” to travel 😉

Storage – Booking Through Thursday

How do you store your books? On bookcases? In piles? In piles on bookcases? Are they sorted? Do you know where everything is? What’s the most creative storage you’ve seen or used for your books?

I have all of my books stored on bookcases. I have a massive one in my dining room that is filled almost completely. Most of the shelves hold books three rows deep. As well, some are stacked on top of the rows. I started off having each box in my bookshelf corresponding to the first letter of the authors last names. “A” authors were in box one, “b” in box 2.. etc. But that got jumbled the more I bought books lol. Now everything gets placed where there is room. I have a general idea where books are. It still might take me while to find them! This has totally changed from when I used to live at home. I have books stacked on shelves, my floor, my night table, and on my bed. It was insane! Just ask my husband haha

What do you read when you’re sick and just want something easy and comforting? Or do you watch TV instead?(Assuming you’re not napping, of course.)

I don’t have a specific book or author. I just pick up whichever book I am currently reading. I mostly watch TV though.. GILMORE GIRLS! Lots and lots of Gilmore Girls. lol.

Shakespeare – Booking Through Thursday

Okay, show of hands … who has read Shakespeare OUTSIDE of school required reading? Do you watch the plays? How about movies? Do you love him? Think he’s overrated?

I have not read any of his works outside of school. We had to read and study a different play every year in high school and it totally ruined it for me. I keep meaning to pick his stuff up and try it without the pressure of assignments and reading it in front of the class.. maybe I will enjoy it this time around!
