I cannot wait to get my hands on a copy of Ransom Riggs new book Library of Souls. It comes out September 22, 2015 (right around my birthday 😉 hinthint) and I am soooooo darn excited!! I love the Miss Peregrine’s series! The mix of old photos, history, and the supernatural is beyond awesome. Anyone else excited for this book?

From Goodreads: “Time is running out for the Peculiar Children. With a dangerous madman on the loose and their beloved Miss Peregrine still in danger, Jacob Portman and Emma Bloom are forced to stage the most daring of rescue missions. They’ll travel through a war-torn landscape, meet new allies, and face greater dangers than ever. . . . Will Jacob come into his own as the hero his fellow Peculiars know him to be?”

THIS WEEK’S RANDOM QUESTION: Have you ever won a copy of a book (other than for review)? What was the book, and what were the circumstances?

I have won a couple of books. I can’t remember the titles off hand but I entered a few contests with publishers and won! I rarely win anything so this was big! haha My biggest book win ever was a Kobo! I never ever thought I would win but omfg receiving that was THE BEST EVER haha. What about you?

I recently bought one of the most anticipated/controversial reads of the year: Go Set A Watchman by Harper Lee. I love love love TKAM and so I was drawn to this book immediately – always curious to know what happened to some of my favourite characters.. but the way in which this book was brought to light is kind of a turn off. Not to mention the negative reviews that keep popping up! My “need-to-know” definitely won when it came to whether I should purchase this book or not. But now that I have it I am not sure I can pick it up right away. Did this book really kill the Atticus we all knew and loved?? Please say no! 😦

THIS WEEK’S RANDOM QUESTION: Are you able to read while in a vehicle (in motion)? Have you always been this way?

I can read in a moving vehicle without getting sick. I have never had any issues with it but I know so many people who can’t! My only negative about car reading is that I get super distracted by the world passing by me.. I am always finding myself staring out the window!

Let the moving begin…

Two major events happening today:

1. My contract at my current job is ending 😦 It has been a wonderful year and I will miss it! Luckily I have another contract lined up with a different department. A fun new adventure!!

2. We are moving in to the new house this evening!!! I am so beyond excited (and majorly exhausted.) I can’t wait to be settled in and moved out of the apartment. Unfortunately we will not be 100% moved out of the apartment.. packing and working has to be one of the worst combinations ever. We have majorly slacked on the packing part due to sheer tiredness after a long day at work. Luckily we have the apartment until the end of October. We will move all of the big furniture to the house tonight and worry about the few unpacked portions some other time. The most important part was my books whiiiich I packed up! Yay!!

So things may be quiet here for awhile while we settle in. Unless I decide to ignore the unpacked boxes 😉 haha Husband would not be happy if I did!

What’s happening with you?!

Musing Mondays (Sept 15)

20140505-133301.jpgMusing Mondays asks you to muse about one of the following each week…

• Describe one of your reading habits.
• Tell us what book(s) you recently bought for yourself or someone else, and why you chose that/those book(s).
• What book are you currently desperate to get your hands on? Tell us about it!
• Tell us what you’re reading right now — what you think of it, so far; why you chose it; what you are (or, aren’t) enjoying it.
• Do you have a bookish rant? Something about books or reading (or the industry) that gets your ire up? Share it with us!
• Instead of the above questions, maybe you just want to ramble on about something else pertaining to books — let’s hear it, then!

I am moving soon (as you have probably already gathered from some of my recent posts) and I never once considered how much of a pain it is going to be to transport my entire book collection to the new house. Coming from my parents place to the apartment was pain enough and I had WAY less books then. My collection has grown SO MUCH over the past two years (tripled maybe? shhh don’t tell the husband!) and it is going to need a lot of time and patience and muscle to get things packed and moved. Anyone have any tips or advice for moving books? I sure could use some! hehe

Bookshelf Organization

photo-2

The second week in October marks my move into the new house and with it comes the opportunity to re-organize my bookshelf!

Now the big question.. How should I organize it? By author? Title? Colour? Genre? There are way too many options!

I originally had each box filled with books whose authors last names started with A, or B, or C, etc. (ie. Box 1 was A. Box 2 was B, etc) but the more books I bought made it harder to keep up. Luckily I will be able to fit some more bookshelves in the new house so I don’ty have to over-pile the books on this one bookcase.

How are your shelves organized?

Binge watch any cool TV shows? Take any trips lately? I want to hear all about it!! You can either mention ALL of the ways you spent your free time that week or focus on one activity. Whatever your heart desires!

My Free time:

My Free time:

This week I spent my free time reading (of course) and job hunting. Oh the joys! My work contract is coming to an end so I am trying to line up other work since we just bought a house and affording it would be nice haha. It is serious work trying to find another job. Making sure you are qualified, writing a cover letter, updating your resume, and filling out any questionnaires they ask can be overwhelming. TOTALLY worth it though lol.

This weekend is a long weekend! It will be spent relaxing, buying more furniture for the new house, and MIL’s bday! woo!

We should probably start packing too.. funfun.

A Home Is Where the Heart Is..

I’ve neglected the blog yet again.. but for a really good reason! WE JUST BOUGHT A HOUSE!!!!

It’s a sign that we are now officially grown ups. (Well maybe the wedding signified that..but this FEELS more grown up to me!)

So the house.. It’s a cute Terrace home made by Minto. 2 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, a balcony, and 1428 sq. ft. of beautifulness. 😉

EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now let’s talk about the home library! This is one of the bigger tasks that I am super excited about. I’ve been scouring the interwebs for pictures of home libraries I love and trying to find comfy and stylish furniture for our soon-to-be library! I seriously get super excited looking at possible chairs and shelves for the library. I think I need help! Haha

Look at this neat frame shelves to hang on the wall. I want!

I browse Pinterest way too much trying to find some other cool ways to decorate and display books. #addicted

What does your dream library look like? I want to hear all about it!
