So normally after completing a book, I have an opinion on it. Usually I can decipher whether I liked it or not. Unfortunately, in the case of 50 Shades of Grey, I really don’t know what to think after reading this book.
Due to my mixed feelings, instead of a typical review, I am just going to write out a pros and cons list. From there, you may determine whether this book seems right for you!

Pros
- It is an easy read.
- Every girl has a fantasy about a strong gorgeous man walking in to their lives, this allows you to live vicariously through Ana.
- It has its moments of being ‘sexy.’ If you are looking for a ‘fairy tale like’ erotic novel written in the point of view of a 22-year-old, this ones for you!
- Its widely popular and even major celebrities are reading it. Makes for a good discussion piece!
Cons
- None of it actually seemed plausible! What interest does a gorgeous rich man have in a 22-year-old awkward graduate student?
- Her constant reference to her ‘inner Goddess’ and subconscious is beyond aggravating! She mentions it in nearly every paragraph. We get it! Your inner goddess loves Grey and your subconscious doesn’t! Enough already!
- There is absolutely nothing appealing about Greys personality or proposal. Why would any young educated woman want that sort of relationship? I get that everyone has their own kinks, but this just seemed so out of place.
- I couldn’t relate to Ana. As a female close in age, we seemed worlds apart.
- The sex scenes were mediocre. From all the hype, I expected a lot more from the erotic aspect of this novel.
- I found the story lacking.. if you can even say there was a story to this.
- The writing was nothing spectacular.

Not quite sure if I should continue on with the trilogy. Curiosity is definitely wondering if it gets any better, but I really don’t know if I can make it through two more books like this.

I haven’t read it yet, have simply downloaded the sample for it. One of my coworkers has said that the writing is terribad and that you might want to have a glass of wine on hand while reading it, but that she is curious enough to continue with the series. Honestly, I’m still curious to read it, even though if the writing is that terribad I might not be able to make it through either.

I am a 35 year old, educated woman. I enjoyed the books. I definitely think its just for fun. I wouldn’t want anyone under 21 to read these books. I’m not sure hoe I fell about it being made into a movie…
The books are definitely on the fun side, not to be taken seriously at all. I also do not know how to feel about the movie.. Seems a little too ‘adult’ to be made into a film. I’m curious to see how they cast it and portray it though!
